Military & Police Boats
MILITARY BOATS
Naiad is part of an elite group of companies selected by the US Navy as "preferred
suppliers". Naiad has been contracted to design a sophisticated twin
diesel jet of 12 metres in length to assist with mine sweeping
among the other usual requirements for a military tender.
Construction of two boats is complete and extensive sea-trials
are underway. A major project for the New Zealand Army is in the final
stages of delivery. Like most military projects, details cannot
be divulged.
What makes for a successful vessel in the military? Speed is
always important, plus the very best in navigation systems,
excellent maneuverability, easy reconfiguration for different
mission scenarios and a soft ride in rough conditions so the
operators arrive "ready to fight". Naiad has the experience to design innovative solutions to
meet a large range of military requirements.
POLICE / PATROL BOATS
Naiad has worked with numerous police and enforcement agencies over the years.
Many fisheries patrol vessels are in use in New Zealand,
Australia and the USA - the most recent build being a
7.5m patrol vessel for Fisheries Western Australia.
Naiad's ability to understand requirements and develop
creative solutions has attracted interest around the world,
and the enforcement sector is no exception. Designs
ranging from small, fast response units right up to the
ultimate 20m command and control vessel are available.
Western Australian Water Police recognized Naiad's
unique blend of innovation, reliability and contracted local
Fremantle builder Kirby Marine to construct a new vessel
for general police duties. The vessel was custom designed specifically for the WA
Police and was launched one year ago (coinciding with
Australia Day). It utilizes Naiad's new high-tech stepped
hull and is fitted with sophisticated electronic navigation
and surveillance equipment.
